Remedial Contractor Continues Mobilization
and Site Preparation for Remediation

On-going activities:
-
Continue excavation for the installation of sleeves for dewatering well point installation. Odor suppression foam was applied to the excavated areas to prevent odors emanating from the Site. Water was applied throughout Site to prevent the formation of dust.

Initiate the mobilization of the cement-bentonite wall (CBW barrier) contractor, including the assembly of the excavator and the batch plant.

Continue maintenance of soil and sediment erosion controls throughout the Site.

General housekeeping activities at the Site.
Recently completed activities:
-
Completed Water Treatment Plant (WTP) testing and installation of the effluent discharge line into the Willow Avenue storm water pipe.

Completed pre-trenching along the Bay Street alignment of the barrier CBW.

Completed excavation and concrete encasement to protect storm water pipes adjacent to Bay Street during installation of the CBW.

Installed temporary power pole for electric service to 25 Willow Avenue.

Future near-term activities:

Complete the baseline surveys of neighboring properties for noise, vibration and settlement issues in preparation for remedial construction activities.

Initiate the installation of well points for dewatering areas of the site to be excavated.

Initiate demolition of the warehouse building.

Initiate shallow excavation at 89 Willow Avenue.

Initiate installation of the CBW barrier.
Community Air Monitoring Plan Summary
Community air monitoring was initiated in February 2012 to support the Level A SUI activities involving small test pit excavations at 25 Willow Avenue to identify subsurface utilities. CAMP monitoring continues for the OU-2 activities, and there were no exceedences of action levels during this period.
